connectivIT Remote Desktop Support
FAQ
What is Remote Desktop Support?
Remote Desktop Support is a
service offered by connectivIT that allows many IT issues to be resolved promptly and inexpensively
without the need for expensive on-site visits.
How does Remote Desktop Support
work?
Remote Desktop Support utilises
remote control software that allows a connectivIT
support technician to work on your desktop remotely. The
Remote Desktop Support client is small (330kb) and is composed of
just one executable file - no changes are made to your system.
Does the Remote Desktop Support
client allow access to my computer at all times?
No. The Remote Desktop
Support client must be explicitly run by you, and you must confirm
that you wish to initiate a Remote Desktop Support session.
connectivIT support staff work on your
desktop, so any changes made are visible to you. You can
terminate the Remote Desktop Support session at any time and
connectivIT support staff are not able
to access your system until you choose to begin another session.
Is Remote Desktop Support safe?
Yes. All traffic between
connectivIT and the Remote
Desktop Support client is compressed and encrypted. The Remote
Desktop Support client is compiled with a unique communication
protocol that only allows it to communicate with connectivIT staff.
What are the requirements for
initiating a Remote Desktop Support session?
All that is required is that your
computer is connected to the Internet and running Windows
95/98/Me/2000/XP/2003.
How can I start a Remote
Desktop Support session?
The Remote Desktop
Support client application is available
here - either as a single Executable, or in Installer form. Please
contact connectivIT
before attempting to initiate a Remote Desktop Support session.
